Quick and Easy Grilled Romaine

Grilling romaine lettuce adds a smoky flavor, transforming this simple ingredient into a gourmet treat. This quick and easy recipe makes for a great salad, appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Grated parmesan cheese
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Prepare Romaine: Cut the romaine hearts in half lengthwise. Brush each half with extra virgin olive oil, making sure to coat the leaves evenly.
  3. Season: Sprinkle the romaine halves with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  4. Grill Romaine: Place the romaine halves cut side down on the grill. Grill for 2-3 minutes until you see grill marks and the edges start to char. Flip and grill for an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side.
  5. Serve: Remove the romaine from the grill and place on a serving platter. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese while still warm.  You can add any additional toppings or dressings to suit your taste!
