Air Fryer BBQ Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs

If you’re looking for a quick and delicious weeknight meal with bold BBQ flavor, this recipe is the best. These air fryer chicken thighs are juicy, flavorful, and ready in just 15 minutes. A simple smoky marinade starts things off, and store-bought BBQ sauce brings it all together with a caramelized finish.

I top them with fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness—so simple and so good!

Ingredients

  • 4-5 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (smoked makes a difference)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ to ⅓ cup BBQ sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray’s)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Make the marinade: In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Marinate the chicken: Add the chicken thighs to a bowl or resealable bag, then pour the marinade over them. Toss to coat evenly. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes while the air fryer preheats. (You can also marinate up to 8 hours in the fridge.)
  4. Air fry the chicken: Arrange the thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.
  5. Add BBQ sauce: After 10 minutes, brush BBQ sauce on both sides of the chicken. Return to the air fryer and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the sauce is caramelized.
  6. Finish & serve: Remove the chicken and let rest for 2–3 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Tips

Serving ideas: These go great with roasted vegetables, corn on the cob, coleslaw, or roasted sweet potatoes.

Don’t overcrowd the basket: Work in batches if needed so the thighs cook evenly and get those delicious crispy edges.

BBQ sauce choices: Use your favorite smoky, spicy, or sweet BBQ sauce.
