Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 small white onion, chopped and split in half
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
- Butter leaf lettuce
- Optional: avocados, limes, cilantro, hot sauce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, radishes, and any other taco fixings.
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients
- Wash and dry butter leaf lettuce leaves.
- Chop the onion, mince garlic, and optionally chop bell pepper.
- Sauté Aromatics
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Sauté half of the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- If using, add the chopped bell pepper and cook until slightly softened, about 2 minutes.
- Cook Chicken
- Add ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink, about 7-8 minutes.
- Drain and Season
- Drain most of the liquid from the chicken, leaving a small amount.
- Stir in chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring the chicken is well coated with the spices.
- Assemble Tacos
- Prepare your lettuce leaves by washing and drying them thoroughly.
- Spoon the seasoned chicken mixture onto each lettuce leaf.
- Garnish and Serve
- Top with your favorite taco fixings: diced avocado, a squeeze of lime, fresh cilantro, hot sauce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, and sliced radishes.
